Video Game Music

My order from Yumetenbo came in Saturday~  I've got to take some more pictures though.  I'd feel weird posting the review without proper pictures.

Anyway, lately, I've been thinking about music.

To be honest, I'm not really all that into mainstream stuff.  A song called "Do Your Chains Hang Low?" ruined radio for me completely....

But I love video game music.  After all, you end up hearing it a billion times, lol.

Now, I could just post up some of my favorite songs, but I got to thinking about a specific theme.  Songs that are elegant.

I want to share with you a few of my favorite video game soundtracks, if you don't mind.
And if you like them, be sure to look up other songs!  Or if you can, find it and play the game!

The first one I have here is a song from my favorite NIS game Phantom Brave called Strange Wind.

This song makes me want to learn how to play the violin, just for this song~
It only plays a few times in the game, usually in relation to a character named Raphael (and if you ever get to play this game and encounter Raphael, you'll see why).  I feel like I'm getting wrapped up in it~~  I guess that doesn't make much sense, but... ah, it's hard to explain.  It just feels so passionate!

This next one is the ending song to one of my favorite games of all time Legend of Mana called Song of Mana:

By the way, the song is in Swedish, sung by the female member of Rednex (singers of the song "Cotton-Eyed Joe").  How random is that?
This song has a lot of good memories attached to it.  I used to play it a lot with my cousin and former best friend when I was young, and even now, one of my friends, Niki, also found it as a kid and grew up with it (I couldn't believe it, someone else who played this game on their own??).  But I think even when I first beat the game, this song just feels nostalgic.  If you find a translation of it, the song is really hopeful too!

I really suggest you look up this soundtrack, there's so many songs on there that are great, from the strong, powerful traveling music, to the very mellow songs like this one.  The songs fit exactly the mood they're trying to convey and the levels they're in.  Yoku Shimomura is an amazing composer.

Finally, I leave you with a more simple song, from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars called Margarie Margarita:

Known also as Queen Valentina's song.
For those who never played this game, Valentina was a villain who tried to trick the people of the kingdom of Nimbus by telling them that she had found the missing Prince Mallow (when in fact, it was her henchman Dodo in... disguise...?  He didn't actually put one on....).  She then had the false prince pretend to propose to her so she could be the new queen.  She lied about how the current king and queen were very ill and probably dying.  She would have gotten away with it, had the real Prince Mallow not been traveling with Mario and the gang, and had their quest for the seven stars not led them there just in time!
The song fit her so well.  Very regal and elegant, with a bit of a snobbish feel, lol.

I want this song to be my ringtone one day.  I'm not snobbish or anything, but I think it fits me otherwise.

These aren't my only favorites, of course.  I could go on just talking about music from Metroid games, lol, but you wouldn't want that.

Hopefully, I'll finish my pictures tomorrow, when there's more daylight.  I still need photos of my boots and dress.
Thank you for being such wonderful people~!  Tell yourself you look beautiful today!

  3. you have wonderful taste in video game music.

Perhaps you would also love the music from the Ar Tonelico games? Also, Nier replicant has quite wonderful music.

  4. Thank you very much! Although looking back, I should have added a Chrono Trigger song to this lineup too.

I probably do, but I can't remember any offhand, since it's been a while since I've played either of them, lol.

    I'll look up Nier Replicant!
